A little about our town

Ideally situated near eastern Colorado's largest bodies of water, Wiley is a small town with lots of outdoor activities. John Martin Reservoir, the area's largest body of water, is a short drive west, and sports placid waters, campgrounds and other family-friendly activities. Just north of town is Queens State Wildlife Area, popular with waterfowl viewers, especially during winter migrations. The wildlife area is ideal, not only for its proximity to Wiley, but because of the four bodies of water that provide a riparian habitat for varied wildlife - Neegronda, Neenoshe, Neesopah and Neeskah reservoirs.

History-The town of Wiley is named after W.M.Wiley, who was a resident of Holly, Colorado and president of Holly Sugar Company.
100 years ago this quaint community was home to 95 citizens, which was quite a few for that time.
Wiley was a well established community that included five churches, hotel, restaurants, drug store and pharmacist, a livery stable, a blacksmith shop, a pool hall, hardware store, theatre, shoe shop, a millinery shop, a confectionery, grocery store, a meat market, lumber yard, auto garage, a brick factory, a creamery and cheese factory, a pickle processing plant and a newspaper.
100 years later the population of Wiley is now 493 and although the business's of 100 years ago have long since gone, many of the original buildings still remain and house Wiley's new business's.
